Storm
Storm - Der Sturm

The start of the summer has been filled with rain and thunderstorms. We have found that waiting for the rain to pass before heading out for a walk - isn't worth it. We are enjoying the lake in all types of weather. Some walks are appreciated a bit more than others. But the rain brings the most spectacular shades of greens.

The past two weeks - Stephan and I have gotten cleaned up and walked in town. Both times the weather was perfect - until the final leg of our trip home. The first night we thought we would walk from the train station - only to get stuck in a wind and rain storm before we got to the first bus stop. The second date night - we were able to get home with the rain only starting as we were getting off the bus.
This past week we had a real rough storm. The photo below and video were minutes before the hail came down. At first, we didn't think much of the sound of a little knocking. Then we realized it was large hail hitting the building. The way the winds were blowing, it was pounding one side of the building. The hail was larger than golf balls and ultimately damaged the metal shades on the outside of the windows on that side. Truthfully, if the shades were not there - we were pretty sure the windows might have broken.
If we were in North Carolina - I believe we would have been getting the tornado warnings and I would have had everyone crammed into the closet under the stairs.
After the storm, we met with our neighbors to all assess the damage. Looks like another insurance claim. That would be the second since we moved in March.

But, after each storm, no matter how long it takes, the sun comes out and nature re-emerges.
