Slow to Write
slow - langsam
It has been a while since I have written anything. For three years, the pandemic seemed to slow things down. At times it felt like the movie, "Ground Hog Day." We would wake up and do the exact same thing.
Now, though still a pandemic, we seem to attempt to return to normal. The pace, perhaps not as fast as the pre-pandemic, but it is a new pace and one that strangely feels unfamiliar.
As we move into the 2nd month of 2023 - I can summarize where we are now:
Klara had a big year in 2022. She is now fluent in German after two very determined years. She will start university in the fall but this year she opted for a position to work and strengthen her language skills. She runs one of the senior citizen activity centers in Vienna and it is learning so much. Over the winter break, Stephan and I each got to visit her site and were quite impressed with her commitment and job dedication.
Miriam is enjoying school and continues to find her way in Switzerland. Since her school uses the British System - her first round of exams were the first week back after break - so there was lots of studying and now is the time where they begin the next area of focus.
Stephan is both working and going to school. He too had exams right after the holidays so there was lots of studying going on in our household during and right after break. He has this last semester of classes and then a thesis to write. He is more than half way through the degree, but it will continue to take a lot of his free time to finish.
As for me, still working for Zharity and continually to enjoy the time helping the community, gaining a deeper understanding of the where we live and enjoying the people I work with. I feel fortunate to be able to do what I do. This year is a pivotal year in the direction and growth while maintaining the sustainability of the organization.
My blogs will be coming more often again!
Hoping all have had a good start to 2023 and may it continue!
