Torn Pancakes -  Kaiserschmarn

Tuesday is Pancake Day. It is a holiday that is connected to with Easter. Some celebrate with Mardi Gras and some celebrate with Pancake Day. At least in the UK - it is a day off for most. In Switzerland, Mardi Gras is really big (Basel and Bern are known for their carnival time). However, you can find many small town and Zurich celebrating as well.

It seems that many add on to Pancake Day.  

I look forward to being able to see Mardi Gras celebrations at some point - but in the meantime - I am very happy to partake in Pancake Day.   We added a twist and made a version of Austrian pancakes called: Kaiserschmarn. It is ok - they are suppose to be torn, like in the picture.  Add some jam or warm compote and it is perfect!
