Driving with Mobility

A few posts back I wrote about Zürich reuse. We were very fortunate to score shelving units for our storage room. This is exactly what we were looking for and were getting ready to buy new - but we were able to get the units already gently loved, saving us the time to put them together, saving money and mainly - reusing! Luckily, the cabinets were nearby so we only had to rent a little transport van. There is a service called Mobility that you can use (think Zipcar). You pick what you want (transport van, minivan, Mercedes convertible, moped, etc) and you can rent it for 20 minutes or longer. Stephan picked up the transport and we loaded it - fitting all three units in perfectly. Then we went into our storage unit and quickly unloaded so he could return the truck within our time limit.
And that is where the adventure really began.
Our building is steel and concrete. The garage - well it is a garage so it is under all that steel and concrete. We were running a couple minutes late - so his reservation ran out so the car would not start. To call - we had to run to the edge of the garage to get reception - when the door was up. After a couple back and forth trips - the only way to solve? Stephan had to push while I steered so we could get as close to the door without blocking anyone. That allowed the company to reprogram and we were able to drive the 5 minutes to the parking spot. Lesson learned.
