Opera - die Oper

Over the winter break - we spent half of it at home. The other half we went to Vienna for a little escape. We left on Christmas Eve via the train and arrived after all was shut for the holidays. Aware of this, we made sure to bring some food with us. For US friends and family, all stores close until the 27th. (24th - things are generally open until mid-day, 25th closed for Christmas and 26th for St. Stephan's Day). Some restaurants were open. Our local coffeehouse - Cafe Ritter Ottakring kept us content and we did find a new favorite Indian Restaurant, Rani Restaurant.

On the 25th, we had tickets to see an opera at the Vienna State Opera House. Last year we went to see a light hearted fun love story. This year, we went to La Bohéme, spectacular, beautiful and tragic. I won't lie - I cried - even though I knew the ending.
