July recap
July - Juli

July went by in a blur. We started with Miriam's school ball and ended on vacation with the whole crew. In between, Miriam's friend from the US arrived, Klara and Benedikt came for a visit, celebrated Miriam's birthday and then COVID hit me. It hit right before our two-week adventure so we had to regroup and replan.

Stephan took three of our young folks and headed to Paris for a week, once he knew the worst was over for me. Klara had just returned from Paris and she ended up with a sinus infection, so she stayed behind and passed me my tea through the door. Thank you science for two vaccines and booster because I acknowledge that as bad as the first few days were - it could have been worse.

As for the crew that went to Paris - they had a blast. They spent the week running around doing all the tourist stops and more. The one celebrity sighting was in the Louvre by Miriam - she spotted Taiki Waititi and his kids. Otherwise, they climbed the Eiffel Tower, roamed the city streets, took a boat ride on the Seine and so much more.
On the other end, with negative tests, no smell and still fighting the exhaustion - I am really grateful that seems to be the worst part. We are spending the last few days of July into August in the Grand Est (Alsace) region of France. It was a perfect compromise. Somewhere that has been on our list to visit, only 2 hours from home ( a longer trip just didn't seem reasonable) and a walkable city with easy access to other nearby towns if we were up for it. (hoping energy levels will get us a day in Strasbourg and Kayserberg).
Onto August....
