Happy New Year
Good wishes for the new Year - Alles Gute zum neuen Jahr!

Since I have known Stephan and Austrian culture around New Years - I see some similar traditions in Switzerland. Let's start with the pig. Little Marzipan (sometimes ceramic or plastic) pigs can be bought around the new year. Pigs, Lady Bugs and Chimney Sweep figurines can be found all around - as a good luck symbol for the new year. I will say, it was harder to find marzipan pigs in Switzerland than in Austria. This little guy was found at our local bakery (Steiner's - and for my GF local friends - they have great GF options in the freezer section - especially the topf!)
We spent New Year's Eve at home with another family. It was a lovely evening and we walked to the top of the hill by our house for midnight. We had an amazing view over the Greifensee (Lake). I am not a fireworks person (noise, and pollution are not my thing), however up on the hill it was quite a scene from afar. We saw all the town around the lake, some over in Zürich, Uster and Hinwil.
There is clearly a love of fireworks here.

Happy new year- wishing all peace, health and hope.
