Colmar
buildings - die Gebäude
We spent a week in the Grand Est region of France with the crew. It is right across the border of Germany and Switzerland. We stayed in the city center of Colmar. Colmar is a lovely little town with streets right out of the Beauty and the Beast. It was very busy with tourists coming to see the beautiful town, food and crafts. They had many stores filled with local pottery, foods and more. We enjoyed our continue strolls and discovering new spots. We found the local synagogue and history of the Jewish community.
The other highlight, they were conducting an archaeological dig right outside our windows. It was a cemetery from the middle ages attached to the local church.
The character of the town came out with the flowers and designs on the buildings. We took the week to relax, stroll the streets and discover new things each day.
It was the perfect break we all needed. We could explore a little town, relax, and see something new. We quickly found the farmer's market, a couple good cafes and ice cream. When temperatures hit 98F/37C and above we were slower and appreciated the time we had to rest.
