Birthday Thoughts To My Mom
Birthday - Der Geburtstag
Today would have been my mom's 78th birthday. In reflecting upon her birthday I am reminded, she lived her life exactly as she wanted. And she REALLY loved those that she loved. One that she REALLY loved was Miriam. Some of my mom's favorite moments were watching her dance. From the first performance where it really was about herding kittens in cute little outfits onto a stage to more advanced shows. My mom watched her like it was Miriam's Broadway premiere. Just days after my mom passed, Miriam took to the stage and we all sat together (my dad, Stephan, Klara, Danny, Jim, Maxine and Elizabeth). The show must go on - really rang true for me that night. We all sat in silence staring at our gem with tears in our eyes. Ironically, today is the first time since my mom passed that Miriam is taking to the stage again. She's been attending a week long theater camp here in Zürich. This year however, it will just be me sitting there in the audience. But I know my mom would still be staring into her favorite performer and I know she will be there with me. And so the show goes on... again... and I am so grateful that is the case.
