Back to School
School Cone - Die Schultüte
In the German speaking world - on the first day of school each child gets a cone filled with treats. It is something that occurs in Germany, Austria and the German speaking parts of Switzerland and Belgium. I would assume there are others as well. Reading up a little on this - it is a tradition that dates back to the 1800's.
As of this week, we are all back to school. I started German classes three weeks ago. Klara started German classes two weeks ago. And Miriam is taking some German classes as her first official day of school is Friday! Even Stephan is in once week class on Swiss German!
Since K and M have never gotten a Schultüte - we decided this year would be the best time to do so. Never too old for some treats - don't worry it wasn't all sweets - we added items they needed for school.
