Applestrudel
Apples - Die Äpfel
It may seem like a small thing, but I made our first applestrudel in nearly seven years. Gluten Free Applestrudel is not something we have found prior to this weekend. I have searched for gf phyllo dough in the past and no luck. About two weeks ago I was strolling through the grocery and there it was! This past weekend, Miriam and I peeled and thinly sliced 5 apples sprinkled with lemon juice. We added that into a pan with little butter, gf bread crumbs, ground almonds and a hint of sugar and voila - we had the mixture. Then we rolled the mixture as we turned the dough. Popped it into the oven and well I must say - it was good. Now that it was successful I think I will try my hand at making the dough.
The recipe I based my dessert on comes from the Austrian Tourist Office.
The recipe I will follow is from my favorite gf baker - Gluten Free on a Shoestring. I am inspired now to make my own dough. And excited to try different fillings.
