2 days, 2 lakes and a pond
Stephan and I put our hiking gear on and headed to the mountains. We visited 2 lakes and a pond. Technically, the pond was a lake but it was so small we could't get ourselves to call it a lake. Our initial destination was on Stephan's list since we moved here. The Blausee (blue lake) from photos was just amazing. We planned to take a train from one town and spend the whole day walking there and around the lake. When we go to the town - the trail was closed (we think from flood damage from August), so our plans shifted, we did a quick visit to the Oeschinensee. It did not disappoint! By the time we got there, we realized we couldn't spend the amount of time we wanted before it got dark. We decided to spend the next day there. So we left quickly, and headed to Spiez for the night. We walked around the lovely town and the Thunersee.
Early the next morning we headed to the Blausee (which took a whole hour - only because we stopped for a coffee and sat people watched for most of that time). Though pretty, it is was a bit of a disappointment in at how small it was, but we laughed it off, enjoyed the fall colors and left.
We spent the rest of the day hiking around the Oeschinensee. We hiked, picnicked and even rented a little row boat for a bit. This lake was spectacular. The views were breathtaking. Probably one of my absolute favorite viewpoints in my life. So once again, the unexpected can be the hidden treasure.
